Peterborough has a long history, as its beautiful Norman Cathedral reminds us every day, but the city’s outlook has always been towards the future, embracing its position as the crossroads of the UK.

The city has a diverse economy which ranges from small entrepreneurial start-ups to large global headquarters, local companies are pushing the bounds of innovation and sustainability. The city fared well during the economic downturn and the 2016 Greater Peterborough Survey showed that confidence is high, with 60% of businesses expecting growth over the next year. This confidence is bolstered by new initiatives to support economic growth.

The city council has shown its commitment to regenerating the city, this has been particularly evident in the city centre where major national chains sit alongside local favourites in the vibrant Cathedral Square area.

Approval has also been given for a number of significant new developments. These developments include major plans to develop Fletton Quays, 15 acres of long neglected land along the river, a major refurbishment of the Queensgate shopping centre and a £100 million plan to redevelop the North Westgate area of the city to include a new cinema and a piazza style retail and leisure complex.
